Fred Soufflet, is the CEO and co-founder of HAAPIE. After passing his diploma as a mechanical engineer at INSA Lyon, Fred went on to literally work in ‘Rocket Science’, designing the boosters and laminated bearings for the Ariane V rocket. He later moved on to designing tension leg platforms in the offshore industry. Fred has over 25 years’ experience working in the field of speech recognition and cognitive systems and setting up several companies along the way. He worked in the 1990’s on one of the first social robots, created by Sempa, then became head of the voice interactions group at Thomson Multimedia and finally moved on as cofounder and CTO at Telisma, a company specializing in speech recognition which was acquired in 2008 by the group OnMobile (India).
